Product description
PTFE Tri-Clamp gaskets provide a hygienic, leak-tight seal between pipes and fittings and are widely used in brewery, food, and process applications.
Selection note: Is PTFE the right choice for your application?
PTFE offers near-universal chemical resistance but belongs to the PFAS group of materials, which is subject to increasing regulatory attention within the EU. In many standard applications, PTFE is technically over-specified and may perform worse than elastomeric materials such as EPDM or silicone due to its lack of elastic recovery and tendency to cold flow.
In many cases, EPDM or silicone is a suitable alternative if:
• Operating temperature is below 150 °C
• Water, steam, or low-concentration cleaning chemicals are sealed (e.g. nitric or phosphoric acid < 3 %, caustic soda < 2 %; EPDM preferred for repeated acidic CIP exposure)
• A soft, resilient seal is required to compensate for flange irregularities
EPDM or silicone can reduce material costs by ~30–50 % and support alignment with current and upcoming EU PFAS requirements.
